“Sa wakas, handa nang isulat ang susunod na kabanata. This is Meckia Mari L. Villanueva, with the highest honor to present the batch 2022," Meckia's caption on her Facebook post on May 21.

In her interview with PEP.ph, Meckia shared that she is really an achiever since she was a child.

“Really love receiving academic validation po through my achievements.

“Been consistent first honor student since I started studying po, mainly aiming for scholarship po to help my family.”

The valedictorian's mother is a licensed pharmacist but opted to be a housewife to take care of their family. Meanwhile, Meckia's father is a card dealer in the PAGCOR casino.

Meckia's awards mostly include being the highest grade earner,  best in virtual performance in terms of visual projects, and most active student in almost all subjects. She was also recognized as Best in Research Papers and Business Plans and Best Presenter in their research defense.

“Nagmukhang marami po siya since yung 60 po, is total na po siya ng lahat ng awards from first to second semester,” explained Meckia.

She also received special awards and recognitions for her extracurricular activities.

Meckia shared that she was able to get all of her achievements because of her own system of studying.

“I guess nahanap ko lang po talaga yung best study routine na nag-work po sa akin.

“I usually wake up at 3 a.m. to study and the rest of my day po, lalo na kapag busy po with student council duties and academic requirements.

“Naka-time block po siya to let me set limits and certain goals to accomplish sa loob po ng isang araw.

"Parang setting a particular time po. Kunwari from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., itong subject po aaralin ko.

"Then 30 minutes rest. 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. po next subject or project.

“I do scan and read lessons multiple times, and I practice advance reading din po for greater retention.”

Meckia will pursue her college education at the University of Santo Tomas where she got a full scholarship. She will take the B.S. Biology Major in Medical Biology. She is also qualified for a DOST scholarship.
