Image of the Virgin Mary, appeared in Fruit of Corn; Makes miracles in Iligan City

The image of the Virgin Mary that appeared on the corn fruit in Iligan City went viral on social media. It is visited and prayed by devotees who believe that the image of this Virgin has performed a miracle. Devotees can be seen praying in the small chapel where the "Virgin of corn" is located.

Nanay barita was the one who noticed the corn fruit and she was also the former guardian but when she passed away it was Virginia who was the standing guardian of the image of the virgin mary.

According to Virginia, Nanay Barita harvested corn on August 1, 2001. When she opened it, she saw the seemingly engraved image of the Virgin Mary on the corn. Because of this, they believe that the "Virgin Mary of corn" gives a lot of help to the devotees.

Eden Barita, one of the believers, there are people who also have bad intentions and tried to take the Virgin Mary from the corn.

"Ang hitsura sa mais, lumalaki siya tapos hindi nabubulok. Noon 'pag naubusan siya ng buhok, tumutubo," Virginia said.

According to science expert Dr. Lolita Beato, it is possible that what happened was due to the alleged appearance of the Virgin Mary in the corn. "It's possible that what happened to the corn that you have there is that it is being manipulated by human factors," said Dr. Beato.

"Ang paglaki ng corn, that is by nature. Wala tayong variety ng mais na may birhen. Merong mais na lumaki kasi meron na siyang sakit. Ito namang grain crops na ito ay masisira. Nabubulok din 'yan kahit ano pang pagkakatubo niyan," Dr. Beato said.

According to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines Permanent Committee on Public Affairs Executive Secretary Father Jerome Secillano, the analysis of priests and experts in science and medicine is still needed.

"Ang pagpapalakas naman sa pananampalataya natin ay hindi nakadepende sa mga milagro. Sapat nang malaman natin na may Diyos, sapat nang malaman natin na meron tayong tagapagligtas," Fr. Secillano said.
