Gr. 12 student, earns a total of P11-M scholarship grants from 7 universities abroad


"It really felt surreal."


This is how a grade 12 student from Santo Tomas, Isabela described his experience after being offered scholarship grants from seven universities abroad.


Benjamin Arches Baui is a graduating senior high school student from the Advance Montessori Education Center of Isabela. He is now making noise on social media because he was just offered a total of P11 million worth of scholarship grants from various schools outside the country.


Bench was able to earn a $40,000 (P2 million) scholarship grant from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, U.S.A., $100,000 (over P5 million) from Xavier University in Ohio, $30,000 (P1.5 million) from the University of Arizona, 6,000 euros (P330,000) from Jacob University in Bremen, Germany, and a conditional admission from Syracuse University in New York, and Merrimack Colleg e in Massachusetts.


Of these seven outstanding universities, Bench is planning to pursue his education at Xavier University since it is his dream school and it is the one that has offered him the biggest scholarship grant.


"Ang plano ko po is grab the opportunity in Xavier University," said Bench in an interview with Bombo Radyo DZNC-Cauayan last May 28.


“Yun po yung pinakamataas na na-receive kong scholarship, which costs PHP1.5 million per year, into five years of my course.


“Then probably it will cost me, I will receive [a scholarship] approximately PHP7 million.


Bench is planning to take Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Apart from the universities abroad, he also passed the entrance examination in some known schools in the Philippines such as the University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University, Enderun Colleges, De La Salle University - Dasmarinas, and University of Saint Louis - Tuguegarao.
