Reelectionist Sen. Risa Hontiveros is the sole candidate from the opposition to win a spot in Senate Magic 12 race, based on the partial and unofficial results on Tuesday.
Hontiveros, who ran under the Akbayan party, garnered 15, 229, 952 votes with 97.97 percent of election returns transmitted as of 5:27 pm. This makes the senator be position at no. 11 of the Senate race.
She is the only senatorial candidate from the slate of presidential candidate Leni Robredo who is projected to enter the Senate Magic 12.
In the 2016 senatorial elections, Hontiveros who ran under the Liberal Party was placed at no. 8.
The majority of the candidates in the Magic 12 are allied with former Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte who are both leading the presidential and vice-presidential race, respectively.
