A supposed to be memorable rite of passage for a 13 year-old-boy turned into a tragedy after he died days following his circumcision in Lucena City, Quezon province.
According to the grandfather of the teenager, his grandson agreed to be circumcised in a medical mission conducted by the Scout Royal Brotherhood Fraternity in Zaballero, Lucena City on March 19.
However, the bleeding from the operated site did not stop until the boy was rushed to a hospital on March 21. Unfortunately, the day after, the boy died.
Based on the death certificate of the victim, the boy suffered from a massive blood loss which resulted in his death.
His bereaved family already sought help from the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption and Public Attorneys Office to give justice to his death.
The family of the young boy believes that there was medical negligence that occurred during the medical mission.
According to PAO Chief Atty. Persida Acosta, it is indeed possible that a medical malpractice happened during the operation. The fraternity behind the medical mission did not even bother to check for the situation of the victim.
