Seller arrested for selling cash envelopes that look like P1,000 bills


A woman was arrested by the authorities in Cavite for selling cash envelopes with P1,000 printed on it making  them look like real money.


According to the report of GMA News "24 Oras" on Wednesday (December 29, 2021), the seller was arrested after the National Bureau of Investigation and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas conducted an operation at General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite.


A 150 money envelope was nabbed from the seller after she delivered it to an NBI agent who acted like a customer.


According to Armida Artango, bank officer II of BSP, the law prohibits the replication of currency notes unless permitted by the BSP 


Whoever violates the aforementioned law will be punished by five to 10 years in prison.


However, the seller denied that she was manufacturing fake money.


''Hindi naman po ako yung gumagawa nu'n. Nag-re-resell lang po ako. (I'm not the one making them. I'm just reselling them),"  she said.
