It has been more than a year and half since the ABS-CBN Kapamilya Network franchise finally expired, and all of the program airing was cut off.
The hope that ABS-CBN would be able to return to the air immediately was also shattered by the fact that the proposed renewal of the franchise was completely rejected in the chamber even though there was no other reason not to renew it.
Richard Gomez, in case he wins as Congreeman in this coming Election, he will make sure that he will help give ABS-CBN a franchise.
“If the good Lord will bless me with the chance of winning in Congress, I’d like to work on bringing back ABS-CBN,” Gonez said.
“In Congress, kanya-kanyang utak ‘yan. As a representative, you represent yourself and your people. So you stand there not as an individual.
“But you stand there for what is good for your people. Especially if it’s a national issue, you will always go for what is good for the whole nation. I am not Richard Gomez now without ABS-CBN,” Gomez added.
Lord Allan Velasco, Speaker of the House of Representatives clarified that this work is already in the hands of the next congress, or in other words after Election 2022.
The absence of the ABS-CBN franchise resulted in more than 5,000 of their employees losing their jobs in the middle of the pandemic.
