PWD, cancer patient continues to work as pedicab driver to support family

No matter how fatal and dangerous his condition is, a pedicab driver from Caloocan City remains positive and determined in finding a way to earn money for his family and treatment needs.

The pedicab driver, Roderick Mugas, has psychosocial disability and is suffering from stage 1 leukemia.

His story has been told after Gina Alinsubao had an encounter with him as one of his passengers.

According to Gina, she was waiting for a vehicle to ride on in Sangandaan Market when Roderick came to offer her a ride and help her carry the stuff she bought from the market.

While Gina is inside the pedicab, Roderick suddenly spoke and said sorry to her for driving too slow.

Roderick has also shared that since he was told to leave the company that he has been working for 10 years, he decided to be a pedicab driver.

Although it is not easy for him to do that kind of work because of his condition, he still opted to do it so that he can support his family and treatment needs such as chemotherapy.

Luckily, Roderick usually meets kind and generous passengers who give him tips or extra money. Many people have reached out to him and sent their donations when he went viral on the internet.
