'Oldest living Filipino' celebrates 124th birthday; daughter also a centenarian




Everyone is sending their warmest greetings to the oldest living person in the Philippines as she celebrated her 124th birthday yestereday (September 11) in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.


Lola Francisca Susano was born in September 11, 1897 in Barangay Oringao, a mountainous area of Kabankalan, which is in the southern part of Negros. She never left this place as she enjoys the peace and harmony in the province.


She has 14 children and her eldest named Magdalena is also now 101 years old.


As a gift, the local officials of Kabankalan City gave Lola Francisca a brand new wheelchair. National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Chairman Franklin Quijano, on the other hand, personally visited the centenarian to celebrate her birthday.


According to Lola Francisca's family, they are all fond of eating vegetables and they all think that this is their secret to living a long and happy life.
