Actress Julia Barretto is one of the newest members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Auxiliary K9 Squadron since Wednesday (September 1).
In a small ceremony at the PCG National Headquarters in Manila, Barretto has formally taken an oath as a civilian volunteer.
The actress holds the rank of auxiliary ensign under the PCG Auxiliary K9 Squadron while her boyfriend Gerald Anderson is an auxiliary lieutenant commander of the PCGA.
As the most senior appointee, Barretto had the chance to give a speech on behalf of her fellow PCGA members.
"She thanked the PCG, especially the PCGA K9 Squadron, for welcoming her into the field of public service. In return, she pledged to actively support the initiatives of the unit towards the delivery of humble and compassionate service to the Filipino people, said the PCG on their Facebook post.
Adding that "Auxiliary means volunteer. Members of the PCGA are committed to serve the PCG by offering their time, efforts, and resources without expecting anything in return."
