Former child star Mona Alawi has revealed that she almost experienced death just days before her 17th birthday on August 19.
In the vlog of Ivana Alawi, sister of Mona, uploaded in Youtube last August 23, the family showed the birthday surprise for their youngest member.
Although Mona told them not to spend too much money for a fancy party and gifts, her family insisted to do so as a reward for being a strong girl.
When her mom, Fatima sent her birthday wishes for Mona, the conversation between the family goes on and on until it is revealed that the former child star just had a frightening incident two weeks prior to her 17th birthday.
Mona has been battling Type 1 diabetes and has been dependent on insulin.
Mona narrated that she accidentally injected too much insulin causing her blood sugar to drop.
"Sobrang bumagsak 'yung blood sugar ko nun kasi sumobra 'yung nilagay kong insulin."
"Akala ko at that time inaantok lang ako so nagko-computer pa ako. Sabi ko, sige, hihiga na lang ako.
"After noon, nagulat ako, akala ko nananaginip ako kasi nakikita ko 'yung sarili ko, pinipilit ako ni Mama na uminom ng sugar kasi kapag mababa kailangan liquid 'yung inumin mo para mabilis siyang umakyat.
"Sabi ko parang ngayon lang ako nanaginip ng ganito, hinihintay ko na lang na magising ako.
"Ilang minutes later, nalaglag ako sa kama kasi tina-try kong gumalaw pero wala akong control over my body. 'Tapos sabi ko wait lang akala ko panaginip..hindi ko kaya kahit small movements, doon ako natakot.
Ivana said "Parang 'yung kaluluwa nasa labas na para panoorin 'yung sarili mo. Nagulat ako sa kanya, sabi sa akin, si Ate ni-reject ni God.
Mona agreed, "Hindi ko pa oras, hindi pa pwede."
