3 policemen help homeless woman deliver her baby; 1 cop wants to adopt the child

Three police officers are now being commended not only by the public but also by the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief himself for helping a homeless woman deliver her baby in Iloilo last week.

According to the report of Manila Bulletin, Patrolmen Rico Yan Inocencio, Vinjie Nebit and Roman Paja of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) rushed the 27-year-old woman to the nearest hospital after they found her in labor at Jaro Plaza.

However, the woman was unable to reach the hospital and eventually gave birth at a makeshift waiting area for people who want to avail massage services of blind masseurs at the said Plaza.

The 3 then continued to accompany the woman, who believed to be suffering from mental health problems, at West Visayas State University Medical Center (WVSUMC) and even used their own money to buy milk and diapers for the newborn.

One of the patrolmen, Nebit, is also willing to adopt the child given the current situation of the mother.

“If no one will come forward as the father, Patrolman Nebit wants to adopt the baby,”Police Captain Eduardo Siacon, Jaro police station chief, said.

“Saludo ako sa tatlong pulis na ito na hindi nag atubili tulungan ang babae sa kanyang panganganak," said PNP chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar  in a statement released by the PNP.
