12-year-old girl from KMJS who suffers from overgrown breasts, to receive free operation

A 12-year-old girl from Puerto Princesa City, Palawan who suffers from overgrown breasts would no longer have to worry for her future after being offered free treatment from the Philippine General Hospital.

Yumi was featured in "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" last June 18 because of her breasts that have grown so big reaching 10 kilograms in weight and prompting the kid to wear 40 DDD cup.

As diagnosed by doctors, Yumi has juvenile gigantomastia, a rare condition in which aggressive growth of the flesh happens.

The only treatment for this condition is an operation that would cost P600,000 to P1,000,000. The option includes breast reduction surgery or a subcutaneous mastectomy where the whole breast will be removed and will be replaced with artificial implants.

With her mother’s net pay of P6,000 only as a teacher, Yumi’s family are aware that they will not be able to afford the said treatment even if they will apply for a loan.

Fortunately, according to GMA News, the PGH have already reached out to KMJS to say that they are willing to shoulder Yumi's operation.

The child and her parents have accepted the offer and Yumi is now scheduled to go  to Manila for some laboratory tests. Once cleared, the surgery will push through which would grant the young girl's wish to live normally again.
