"Painful and heart shuttering"
This is how a widower Rey Mangulabnan describes his current feelings and emotions after losing his wife due to COVID-19 and having his newborn in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
According to the report of ABS-CBN News, Rey's wife, Kaye Mangulabnan, has died after battling with COVID-19.
On May 15, Kaye, had to have an emergency cesarean delivery because of her COVID-19 symptoms which made her oxygen levels low putting also her 35-week-old baby in danger.
However, four days later, May 19, Kaye died at the age of 37. Her baby, although premature, survived and currently incubated in the NICU.
"Sobrang sakit, sobrang sakit talaga. Durog na durog ako ngayon, di ko alam kung papaano ako babangon... on point (sic) ako kasi kailangan ako ng 2 anak ko, kailangan maging strong ako," shared Rey.
Aside from the grief from the sudden loss of his loved one, Rey is also struggling with his finances as his wife's bill reached P2.1 million, apart from the running bill of their daughter which he said is currently at P120,000.
As of the moment, Rey has not yet seen his daughter in person and he is still unsure if they be able to take her home without paying the bills completely.
