Vice President Leni Robredo's office launches free antigen test for COVID-19

As a support to the local government units' effort to increase their COVID-19 testing capacity, the Office of the Vice President will be launching a free mobile testing program in various places which have higher COVID-19 cases.

According to Vice President Leni Robredo, the initiative will be called "Swab Cab" which aims to offer free antigen testing to individuals for COVID-19.

"We’re launching SWAB CAB, a mobile testing program which will do mass surveillance testing in communities where transmission is very high.  Pilot area is Malabon. Thank you to LGU Malabon, Ube Express and Kaya Natin Movement for the partnership," said Robredo in a tweet on Saturday (March 28).

Based on an Abs-Cbn news report, the antigen test kits that will be used in the OVP's program is approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Although the kits are only donated by the private sectors, the OVP will still be willing to release a budget if needed.

Swab Cap will have its pilot test on March 30 to April 6 in Malabon City. It will soon visit other places that have higher transmission and infection rate.

As of March 27, the Philippines has already logged 712,777 of COVID-19 cases. Of this number, 118,122 are active cases.
