Pres. Duterte fires Ph Ambassador to Brazil for abusing Pinay helper

The Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro is officially fired after President Rodrigo Duterte signed the document approving her dismissal as a career diplomat.

According to Pres. Duterte on Monday night (March 1), aside from termination, Mauro will not be eligible anymore to receive retirement benefits from the government.

In addition, she would not also be allowed to take civil service examinations and be assigned to any public office.

Mauro earned controversy last year after a video where she can be seen hitting her Filipina household helper's head with his palm, twisting her ear and throwing a mop to her, surfaced online.

Meanwhile, the helper has already returned to the Philippines and has already received P200,000 financial aid. The Department of Foreign Affairs has also contacted her and offered legal assistance and livelihood support.
