You guys are excited to shorten the Manila to Bicol for only four hours trip



Tourists are excited on the  reopening of the San Pablo-Lucena line of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) starting June 25, 2022. The said line last operated in October 2013.


The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and PNR have also released photos of the trains that will travel. The diesel -powered trains come from China, and can run at speeds of 160 kilometers per hour.


It has a business seat, a first-class seat, and a second-class seat. According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the 44-kilometer inter-provincial rail line connecting Lucena City in Quezon province and San Pablo City in Laguna will shorten the journey of motorists.


The journey usually takes an hour but will take only 30 minutes by train. The San Pablo-Lucena route is part of the PNR Bicol Express which was one of the projects of the previous administration. PNR Bicol has 560 kilometers of railways and 35 stations.


It will link Manila and the provinces of Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Albay. There is also an extension line in Sorsogon and a branch line in Batangas. It is estimated that it will take just over four hours to travel from Manila to Bicol when it is fully operational in 2027.
