Student who worked as a yaya to pursue college, becomes top 1 in board exam

All the hardwork and sacrifices of a lady from Cebu did not go to waste as she was able to reach her dream of becoming a teacher with a bonus of being board exam topnotcher.

The 26-year-old Maricris Colipano Brgy. Upper Natimao-an, Carmen is the top 1 in the recently concluded March 2022 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) elementary level, with a rating of 92.40 percent.

This achievement is one of Colipano's sweetest fruits of labor after how many years of hardships and sacrifices.

According to the newly seasoned teacher, her journey towards her dream was never easy because she had to work first before entering college.

Due to their financial incapacity, right after her high school graduation, Calipano had to work as a nanny to help her parents with their expenses.

When she turned 18,she stopped being a yaya and worked in a company in Danao City.

It was in 2016 when Colipano was able to enrol herself in college. She then graduated in 2019 as a magna cum laude.

Up to this time, Colipano still can't believe that she is the top 1 in their batch of examiners. And as of the moment, she is spending her time as a volunteer teacher despite receiving offers from a lot of schools and institutions.
