5-year-old girl takes care of her grandmother; carries responsibilities of adults

Despite her young age, 5-year-old Alyssa Oda from Calinan District in Davao City is carrying the responsibility of taking care of her  grandmother who has a visual impairment.

As early as 5 am, Alyssa will wake up to prepare some breakfast for her Lola   Elsa Pantorilla, 60, and two other siblings.

Alyssa does the cooking throughout the day. She also washes the dishes and their clothes all by herself.

According to Lola Elsa, she started to be blind more than three decades ago, after she gave birth to her one and only child, Melissa, mother of Alyssa.

Melissa was the one who used to take care of Lola Elsa but when she got married to another man, Alyssa started to be the one in-charge of guiding the old woman with her daily activities.

Alyssa's mother is nowhere to be found up to this time. That is why, the kid has no choice but to act as an adult so she, her siblings, and her grandmother would survive their daily life.
