Many netizens were disheartened over the story of a father from Sultan Kudarat who endures in using his old and broken artificial leg just to be able to continue his work and provide for the needs of his family.
Tatay Jerry has his right leg amputated. But in spite of this, he still keeps on climbing trees, and cutting down big woods to produce charcoal and earn money for his wife and his children.
He does not complain with the fact that he has to strive and exert too much blood and sweat to feed his family but what makes him whine is the struggle that his old artificial leg is giving him.
According to Tatay Jerry, his artificial leg has a lot of damage already and because of this, he always feels pain in his amputated leg especially when he is wearing it while he is working.
“Yung mga butas, nilalagyan ko lang ng epoxy. Tapos ‘yung gilid, nila-lock ko lang gamit ‘yung goma na galing sa gulong ng truck. Sira na talaga. ‘Yung pakiramdam sa paa ko, parang kinakagat na," said Tatay Jerry.
“Nagsusugat na rin paa ko. Nagkakapaltos na rin kaya minsan, kapag nagtatabas ako, gumagapang na lang ako sa gitna ng maisan,” he added.
Thankfully, through "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho," a TV program of GMA, Tatay Jerry was able to have a new artificial leg. He also received financial help from the program and livelihood assistance from Davao Jubilee Foundation.
