Man builds 'underground alkansiya’ to save his father from 'kupit'

"No more kupit!"

This has been the motivation of a 25-year-old man from Marikina City for building an extraordinary "alkansya" underground inside his own room.

According to Mark Christian Aludino, he constructed the foolproof coin bank by himself for his father back in June 2018.

He decided to dig a hole underground and patterned it to a septic tank with a 2 by 2 feet dimension and 3 holes to save his father's savings from being secretly spent by his siblings.

"Ito po medyo naisipan ko kasi para 'di siya makupitan. Kasi po kinukupitan po ng kapatid ko. Kaya sabi ko, itong alkansyang gagawin ko kapag lang mapuno at saka lang bubuksan. Eh kaso po kinailangan lang po kaya nabuksan po siya," said Aludino.

His father, who is a tricycle driver, often drops P5 coins and sometimes P100 to P200 if he earns a lot from driving his vehicle. Aludino and other members of the family also contribute to the savings whenever they have extra coins in their pocket.

However, after 3 years of saving, on March 3, Aludino and his family agreed to open the coin bank and they were surprised by the number of coins that they had saved which totaled to P52,000.

Aludino said they will use the money for the property that they are planning to buy. Since they have realized that  his underground alkansya is effective in saving money, they have already cleaned it so that they can use it again as a coin bank.
