A one-year and three-month old baby was allegedly hanged by her own mother in a bamboo tree near a cemetery in Barangay San Fernando in Victoria town, Tarlac on Thursday (April 1).
Fortunately, the child was rescued after a concerned citizen reported to barangay officials claiming that he saw a woman hanging a child in a bamboo tree.
Based on the report of ABS-CBN News, during the rescue, the 28-year-old woman threw the child without a fuss hence the victim has bruises on the forehead.
According to the agency's initial assessment, the woman has bruises on her abdomen and psychological symptoms. With this, she was presumed to be suffering from battered woman syndrome.
The child was first handed over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office but later on returned to her uncle's custody together with her mother.
