Paralyzed man continues to sell vegetables to support family

Despite his condition, a person with disability (PWD) from Payatas, Quezon City is still working as a vegetable vendor in order to provide for himself and for the rest of his family.

According to Facebook User Melvin Carreon who shared the story last March 6, 2021, he keeps on seeing the guy, whom he did not name, for seven years already selling vegetables  like tomatoes and calamansi in Goldenshower, Payatas.

He has difficulty talking and half of his body is paralyzed. Most often, people and even children would usually make fun of him but these never became a reason for him to stop carrying and selling baskets of vegetables everyday.

Carreon added that the PWD is the bread winner of their family. He lives with his sister who has two children and separated from her husband. Since the kids are still young, he has no choice but to work and provide for them.

One time, the guy asked Carreon if he could write because he wanted him to write a letter to Mikey Belmonte, Quezon city District 2 councilor, to ask even just for a cart or "kariton" which he will use for selling vegetables in the streets.

With this, many netizens shared the post of Carreon hoping that it would reach Belmonte to grant the simple wish of the PWD.
