Businesswoman Jan Catherine Sy, daughter of Henry Sy Jr., the chairman of SM Prime Holdings, died on Thursday night (March 18), at the age of 29.
According to the family on the Facebook page “Cup of Faith,” Jan passed away at 6:35 pm.
No details about her cause of death were revealed by the Sy’s but based on the public tweet of DJ Tony Toni on March 14, Jan was suffering with septic shock at St. Luke's BGC and was in need of A+ or AB+ blood from a male blood donor.
Unfortunately, on Thursday morning, Jan was reportedly in critical condition.
Senator Joel Villanueva was among the first public figures who sent his condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family.
In an article in Esquire, Jan was said to be one of those people behind the "The Good Guys" program of the SMDCs which aimed to provide livelihood programs in various communities amid the pandemic.
She was also described as a faithful Christian, nature lover, and sporty individual as she was trained and competed from various competitions during her childhood.
