Former baker, water refiller now a newly licensed doctor

With passion and determination, a 38-year-old man from Eastern Samar is now a licensed doctor in spite of the challenges brought by being born in a poor family.

In a Facebook post shared on Saturday (March 20),  Rommel Abellar Amos recounts his humble beginnings from being a water refiller in 2005, a merchandiser in 2006, a marketing assistant in 2007, a sales clerk in 2008, and an assistant baker in 2017.

Even though juggling between work and study is difficult, he never stopped to achieve his dreams because he believes that poverty must not be perceived as an obstacle but a challenge, adding that success is being earned if you work hard and smart for it.

Amos is not only a graduate of medicine from Cagayan State University, he also finished Bachelor of Science in Nursing in St. Jude College Manila and Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in Nativity of Our Lady College Seminary.

He passed the Physician Licensure Examination (PLE) just this 2021 and now works as a doctor at Barongon City Health Office to cater the health needs of the people in the barrio.

With his incredible story of hardship, many netizens and aspiring doctors are now inspired by him. As of this writing, his said post has actually garnered more than 48,000 likes, 2,800 comments, and 38,000 shares on Facebook.
