Erap Estrada tests positive for COVID-19; family asks for prayers


Former Philippine president Joseph "Erap" Estrada is now confined in a hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, said his son former senator Jinggoy Estrada to  DZBB Super Radyo on Monday (March 29, 2021).

According to Jinggoy, his father was brought in the hospital last Sunday night (March 28) but now in a stable condition.


His other children JV Ejercito, also a former senator, and Jake Ejercito, who is an actor, also confirmed the saddening news through their social media accounts and asked for prayers for the speedy recovery of their father and everyone else who contracted the virus.


"Please pray for my father who has tested positive for COVID-19 and was rushed to the hospital," JV wrote in his Facebook account.


"Our dad, former president Joseph Estrada, tested positive for COVID-19. He's now confined in a hospital and is in stable condition. Please pray for his recovery and the recovery of everyone affected by the virus," said Jake in his Tweet.


Estrada became the 13th  president of the country from 1998 to 2001. He also served as the 9th vice president from 1992 to 1998, and the 26th mayor of Manila from 2013 to 2019.
