Netizens admire a 25-year-old balut vendor who worked hard to graduate and now an engineer in Ilocos Sur.
He passed the Sanitary Engineer Licensure Exam this September 2021. He tells others who are struggling, "Mahirap talaga ang buhay, pero pag may tiyaga, makakamit mo ang pangarap mo. Pray to the Lord."
"Sa family namin wala pa kasing nakapagtapos kaya ginusto kong mag-aral. Alam ko 'yung hirap nila roon sa Cagayan na paminsan-minsan hindi na rin sila nakakakain at wala silang ulam," Benny said.
Benny's parents are farmers in Cagayan, he is the fifth among nine siblings.
Benny ventured to Ilocos Sur and studied at the University of Northern Philippines to graduate. He supported himself by selling balut, which took two to three hours to sell.
"Paminsan-minsan gusto ko nang sumuko pero thank God, hindi Niya ako pinabayaan," Benny added.
Benny now plans to work in Ilocos Sur and help and support the two younger siblings to continue their studies.
